PROGRAM SUMMARY
The Church Health Team was formed in September of 2011, after our church board elected to implement a program produced by “NATURAL CHURCH DEVEOPMENT”. This is an international, interdenominational program helping churches identify their strengths and weaknesses through a detailed survey. The survey results identify weaknesses and include ways to improve on these weakness, allowing our church to become more effective and productive. An initial survey was done, the results are in. Based on this need the Church Health Team (CHT) was formed. The improvement the church needs to make is in the creation of Effective Structures.

Effective Structures includes the areas of:
  • Effective Planning
  • Organizational Structures and Systems
  • Innovation and Managing Change
  • Structure for Effective Leadership
This team will take the practical steps and guidelines given in this program to improve on the identified weaknesses, apply them to the personality and uniqueness of our church and send those proposed changes to the church board.

The church board will decide if and when these changes will be implemented. Once the original issues have been corrected, another survey is taken where (hopefully) new issues are identified and the process begins again. This program provides continuous monitoring and improvement of the health or our church. We are excited to embark on this new adventure to help our church to become more effective for the kingdom of Christ.

Here is a recap of our November 7 meeting:
The team voted to accept the qualifications for board members that we have been working on and will be sending that to the board. The policy manual by Stan Toler came in. We thumbed through some of it to get some ideas of what we can use and I had run of copies regarding certain ministry areas. We have broken up into teams to work on different areas of ministry to see if we can get some more work done outside of the meeting. Below are listed the teams and their assigned area:

Joyce/Terry; Board nominations and protocol
Perry/Nancy: Music ministry
Jamie/Sharon: Sunday School
Dawn: Pastors (note: Will, I will probably be needing your help with this one)

Other projects: Perry is fine tuning the organizational chart. It will contine to be a work in progress as we move through this. Sharon is adding some key question/ideas to the interview form we found in the ST manual.

The plan is to see what policies there are in place (if any), who is head and who do they answer to, use interview questions and temporary organizational chart to help with questions and concerns, and brainstorm with the help of our new manual and the church manual to put needed policies in place.

Goals for the next meeting on 12/5/11:
Have board report and board qualifications sent to the board for consideration. (that next meeting is 12/6/11)
Each team to have an idea of how they are going to tackle their project and set some goals.
Set meeting dates for the next quarter.
